EMS uses electrical impulses to trigger muscle contractions far more frequent and more complete than you can produce voluntarily. Thirty minutes on the table produces a level of contraction you would struggle to reach in the gym, and the muscle responds the way it does to any load — by adapting.

Where it is used

Abdomen, glutes, arms and thighs. Applicators are positioned over the target muscle group and intensity is built up gradually through the session.

The sensation is strange rather than painful — an intense, involuntary contraction that holds and releases. Most people are comfortable within the first few minutes.

What to expect

Sessions are clustered close together, typically two a week over a few weeks, then maintained monthly. The change is one of tone and definition in a specific area.

It works best alongside training rather than instead of it. Where people are already active, EMS tends to sharpen definition in the area that has been stubborn.
