Treatment
Dermaplaning
A precise physical exfoliation that leaves the surface smooth and makeup sitting flat.
A sterile blade held at a shallow angle removes the layer of dead cells sitting on the surface along with the fine vellus hair that traps them. It is one of very few treatments where the difference is visible as you leave.
Why it works
That surface layer is what makes skin look dull and what stops serums reaching anything useful. Removing it does two things at once: light reflects evenly off the skin again, and whatever you apply afterwards actually absorbs.
It is also the reason makeup sits differently — foundation has nothing to cling to and catch on.
The hair question
The fine, soft vellus hair removed here grows back exactly as it was. It does not return darker, thicker or coarser — that belief comes from confusing vellus hair with terminal hair, which is a different structure entirely. If terminal hair is your concern, laser hair removal is the relevant treatment.
Often paired
Dermaplaning is frequently done immediately before a peel or a hydrating facial, because clearing the surface first lets the treatment behind it work more evenly.
